Former Resident Shares Her Story

A former resident of our shelter shares a part of her life story on the YouTube channel LifeLion in an empathetic way. She talks about her upbringing and how, as a minor, she was pushed into prostitution by her mother. She also shares her life in the red-light district in Germany and how she fought her way out of it. The video goes in-depth, highlighting how difficult the exit is and how much strength it took her. We are so proud of her and her journey and want to share the video with you. Her voice is such an important one in this country and in the entire discussion around prostitution. It is our great hope that through our exit support, we can help many women raise their own important voices.

She spent the first part of her exit journey with us and a later part with HOPE e.V. Exiting prostitution is a very challenging path for many, often involving multiple attempts. It frequently happens that women who exit receive support from several organizations. Rarely is there a single exit attempt that leads straight to a new life. Leaving the red-light district is unfortunately extremely hard work, both for the affected individuals and for the helpers.

We are therefore grateful for our wonderful network with other organizations that advocate for women exiting prostitution. Together, we are active in the alliance “Gemeinsam gegen Menschenhandel” (Together Against Human Trafficking).
